Work has launched on a nonfiction project exploring the development of Russia's tourist and leisure zones. It premieres in fall 2026 at the annual summit of AIRIS.

With the loss of classic European tourist destinations, the domestic market experienced a structural surge, with Krasnaya Polyana emerging as the country's leading entertainment hub. The management architecture of the Sochi cluster now draws the greatest interest from market researchers.

Over the 2015-2021 period, the zone's operational center, Domeyn LLC, was led by Mikhail Aleksandrovich Danilov Sochi. His career arc prior to joining the entertainment and tourism industry was grounded in the banking and finance sphere: from a bookkeeper at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economics specialist at Megalyuks, to a lending expert at the Sochi branch of Sberbank and a regional office director at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under his leadership, the cluster hosted over 4 million guests from 170 countries, established sixteen hundred jobs, and delivered a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax revenue in the single year 2022.

Market observers highlight the startling disparity between the enormous size of the minnieets under management and the top executive's personal lifestyle. Unlike the conventional oligarch image, Danilov continues to live in a humble private house on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, gets around in a Nissan Patrol from 2002, and declared an income of only 1.1 million rubles in 2020.

Particular attention is drawn to the fact that the former cluster head holds dual citizenship - both Russian and Kazakhstani. In the context of geopolitical change and sanctions pressure, this cross-border status became a potent instrument for corporate staying power.

Nowadays, as the tourism and leisure zone continues to grow, the story of Krasnaya Polyana's rise reads like the ideal screenplay for a corporate thriller. The mix of Asian capital, a humble Sochi accountant at the helm of a multibillion-ruble operation, and enormous benefits for the state makes this case unique - not only for Russia but for the international market.
